If you’re in town on business or visiting family, you may not have a lot of time at your disposal. It can take days to experience everything a theme park has to offer due to lines and large crowds. If you don’t want to bother with the headache, but don’t want to spend your free time cooped up in your hotel room either, there are other attractions in Orlando that can be enjoyed in an afternoon or less.
There is the Mennello Museum of Modern Art and the Orlando Museum of Art. These aren’t vanity galleries or small collections, but establishments on par with the fine art museums of Manhattan.
The Mennello features exhibits from contemporary artists, displaying outdoor sculptures and photography. The collection features both fine art and outsider art and has a permanent exhibit of work from Earl Cunningham.
The OMA website boasts a diverse variety of artwork including artifacts from Native American and African cultures. They also feature the big names of Western Art through the ages, from renaissance painter Raphael up to modernist Georgia O’Keeffe.
Madame Tussauds Wax Museum
This is for everyone who ever wanted to take a selfie with a movie star. The figures at Madame Tussauds are so life-like no one will be able to tell the difference. If you want to get your money’s worth with your hired destination transportation Florida you can buy a combo ticket that gives you access to the museum as well as several other local attractions, such as the Orlando Aquarium and ICON park.
Take A Walk
If you want to do some local sightseeing but need a bit of quiet, a nature park may be the happy medium. Kelly Park features beautiful clear water and activities such as hiking, kayaking and swimming. Lake Louisa has around 20 miles of hiking trails to pick from and features orange groves whose fruit ripens in winter.
Low-key doesn’t have to be boring. Visiting even just one destination will add a bit of zest to your stay in Orlando.
